The economic, political, social, environmental and technological environment of organisations is changing and evolving faster than ever before. Public and private organisations are forced to transform themselves to adapt to these changes. This context encourages managers to develop proactive career management strategies, drawing on their individual social capital. This research reveals the influence of psychological predispositions, particularly affective attachment, on the development of personal networks and social capital that can ultimately lead to greater career satisfaction. We find in this research that the sociability profile adopted by business managers influences the properties and attributes of their social capital and the structure of their personal network. The position of the manager within his or her personal network influences the level of career satisfaction.
